The Kenyan chapter of women in Tech week Africa is back, for its third summit and we are super excited to see what’s in store for this year’s event. The women in tech week Africa is as an event that takes place yearly in 12 physical chapters in celebration of success and impact; through leadership training, peer learning and workshops. It’s celebrated simultaneously, both physically and virtually.
The Kenyan chapter of Women in Tech week Africa is going to be held on the 23rd -25th October at the Nairobi garage. And you can get your tickets from here, it’s absolutely free.
The event is set to bring together well accomplished renowned speakers in the Technological space, Entrepreneurs, Government officials, Members of the Diplomatic corps and Non-Governmental Agencies. In fact, this year’s chief guest, on the launch date is Ambassador Fionnuala Quinlan, ambassador of Ireland Kenya. Other great women that will either speaker or be part of the events panelist include; Wambui Mbesa CEO –Intrasoft International East Africa, Shikoh Gitau Head-Safaricom Alpha, Beatrice Murage-Senior Scientist Informatics, Philips Research and Innovation Africa and many others.
This year’s theme is “Scaling Technology in Africa”. Talks, panel discussions and workshops around women, leadership, technology, entrepreneurship and the African continent will be incorporating the theme.
The event has three sessions. The first session will be on the 23rd October, officially launch of the event. The 2nd and 3rd session are an invite only event. The 2nd session involves a full day panel discussions headed by phenomenal women in the tech space handling different topics. The 3rd session is a Financing and scaling workshop spear headed by Makeda Tsegaye-Founder/CEO NetBizImpact, and Esther Ndeti of East Africa Venture Capital Association will be a guest speaker. They will also be a round table discussion on Women Economic Empowerment for sustainable Development: Ensuring Financial inclusion using Technological innovation. Hosted by Abigail Komu-Okonji.
The Women in Tech Week festival sets out to;
- Support female leadership in the technological field
- Create a pipeline for girls to choose technology
- Encourage female entrepreneurship.
Women in Tech Africa is currently one of the largest group on the continent. They have 5,000 members across 30 countries globally. The 12 Physical chapters’ countries are Ghana, Nigeria, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Germany, Ireland, Britain, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius, and Cape Verde.
Women in Tech Week provides a platform for women in tech to come together, network, share and empower each other. More than 20,000 participants are expected to be part of this years event.
