Meet Her: Esther Wanja Making A ‘Clean’ Difference In The Society

This week, we want to spotlight an amazing lady doing wonderful things for the community. I met her during a fundraiser for Life Bloom Services International where she works with the organization to support girls and children who have experienced abuse and exploitation transform to become dignified leaders. . She also works to impact the lives of women and girls positively in other ways.

Meet Esther Wanja, the Director and the founder of Esam Reine Cleaning Services.

What Impelled You To Start This Business?

I have been working with the community, especially with vulnerable women and girls. Working with them revealed that most of them are highly exploited due to poverty stemming from lack of job opportunities; this gave me a business idea to come up with a cleaning company which can give job opportunities to both skilled and unskilled women/girls and also a number of men.

What Does Your Company Do?

My company offers;
Professional Cleaning services; office cleaning/building maintenance/apartment cleaning/domestic cleaning etc
Apart from that, we provide errand services and messengers/tea girls

What Would You Consider As Your Most Significant Achievement?

I would say my most significant accomplishment so far apart from coming up with the  brand for my business, is the fact that a few women have already benefited from it by being employed as cleaners.

What Unique Challenges Have You Experienced As A Woman While Running This Business?

The main challenge that I have experienced is lack of enough capital to purchase all the basic machines that I need to run this business.

What’s Next For Esam Reine?

I am still growing my business , so for now I will concentrate on Marketing. Door to door marketing, online marketing, developing a website and then tendering. From there, I look forward to impacting the lives of more women and girls positively to help them take charge of their lives.

Any Advice For Women Who Want To Venture Into This Business?

My advice is, you need a lot of boldness and be goal-oriented for you to make it in this kind of business as it is considered a ‘dirty’ job.
