The BAKE Awards gala night took place on Saturday 14th May at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi where winners in the nineteen categories were awarded.
This year saw a major comeback for female bloggers as they scooped almost half of the awards unlike the previous years. And the good news is that they not only just appeared in the fashion or food category, as many of us would expect, but they also won unapologetically in the health, county and travel categories. This is good news for aspiring female bloggers and a sign that there is no specific category for women.
Among the winners this year was lifeinmombasa.com which won in the County Category thereby becoming the first blog from Mombasa to ever win in the competition. I just learnt that she quit her banking job to focus on blogging. Well she deserved it. Others female bloggers include: couchhealthandfitness.wordpress.com (health), kaluhiskitchen.com (food) Lucia Musau(Fashion)and ernestwamboye.blogspot.com (Religious/spirituality) among others.
